BSA update for France ride #Southsiders

Been fine tuning a few things on the BSA to prepare for an mot, and for riding to the wheels and waves event in France. The Bike worked fine for the year, then lot's of things collapsed just in time for the mot. Front forks were a fail, bearings fail, on top of that the clutch said goodbye, fuel leaks, footrest swivel, and some other stuff. Managed to fix the lot, and create some light mounts and install a dynamo. Lights not sorted Yet but thats next on the list.
 Ghetto bike lift
 Epic fail, no damage

Mocked up in a spare set of yokes.
Got a vintage bulb from Taillight king

Real livin

Freedom, the open road. Riding into the sunset. Travelling the land discovering new places. That's the dream.
The reality is a trip to Shepherds Bush Post Office, to find a massive queue of people on a grey winter day.
A 3 minute ride yeilds 1 request for the age of the bike, wailed from the window of  a white van.
Livin the dream!

Adjustment's

I got this new Haifley Brothers seat and p-pad from Lowbrow Customs. I can ditch the home made one, which is fine, but it's upholstered with gaffa tape and an old handbag. I hope this Haifley one looks good on the bike, the bracket and position will be different.

FAIL

This time its a rear tyre blowout! one day I'll complete a journey on this thing. Made it 25 miles into my 100 mile quest.

Back in business.

The piston got torched previosly, I had trouble finding a replacement as it had a long rod high comp one in there, any b series owners may know that most stuff like that is for the short rod later versions. I managed to track down a +40 piston at a sane price from Petes classic bike parts in the Netherlands. The previous piston was a strange one as it was an actual BSA piston (not Hepolite or etc), and since getting this new one I now realise it was like 8:1 cr, wheras the one I got to replace it is 8.5:1. Hope thats not going to cause problems!.This one is a MC cast piston. It has a skirt seperation slot which the other one didn't so hopefully that will make it less likely to nip up.
I spent ages trying to fit the final circlip in, then I could not get it to seat, after ages I realised I was putting it in the side that already had a circlip!
I hate doing the timing, 7/16" btdc. It took ages to do, only to realise I made the mistake of setting it to 7/16" after tdc! 2'nd error of the day. Set it to the reccomended 7/16"btc fully advanced, but seems to me ike there's a lot of variables to simply set the pionts to .002 @ 7/16" btdc. What about mag pinion play and stuff.
Stagger the ring gaps, none on the thrust side bla bla.

Shiny single

Somebody smashed it with this one. Does anyone who might stumble upon this site have any info on this BSA B series custom? I got the pic from boylecomm's flickr (i'm sure it appears elsewhere too) It also appears on COC where it looks like it may be from norrtalje custom bike show or something. Seems to say Hermans Racing on it.

hors de contrôle

Bonjour. This BSA that Roland did slams in your grill. I watched the build and the result is great. You don't need a v-twin or triumph to get the look. Here it's been done with a single and it does not look all off kilter, It looks good. Good proportions and stance bla bla yea cool
