Talking YX

YX140cc pit bike engine with race cam. Chinese stuff, super cheap, super powerful, super flimsy.
The YX140 engine has tons of compression and requires that you nudge it past tdc prior to kicking it over, to get a good startup. If this rule is not adhered to then it often kicks back, giving a nasty blow to the sole of the foot. I was suprised at the amount of compression this little engine has.
Yes the parts seem quite flimsy and obviously cheaply made, but this engine lasted a good year of me thrashing it on main roads, sometimes doing a 45 mile daily round trip. I think this is OK despite the engine being designed for kids pit bikes, the short bursts of off roading every now and then.
Eventually the flywheel snapped right off at the crank. Its as if the power output is too much for the diameter of the crank with that flywheel on there.
Anyway, I replaced the bottom end and see how long this one lasts.
For anyone interested, the pit bike engines fit into all the cub frames, EXCEPT THE 6V C90. That bike requires some modification to fit the engine. And if doing the swap, I highly recommend addressing the exhaust situation properly, the standard cub exhaust is too small for these engines.
And another thing, I have no idea how they get such cheap, soft, plasticine screws to be done up so bludy tight! The force needed to unscrew these screws exceeds the strength of the metal, resulting in the screw turning to mush. I had to tap most out with a hammer and punch, then drill out the last one.

Epic Sheffield #1

CFH in Sheffield. Everyone needs to go to Sheffield for a ride, amazing scenery, epic views, nice people and amazing windy/hilly lanes to get lost in. Burn some of the dust off the sides of Your tyres! I have this 1974 Honda c70 which I updated with a 140cc stomp pit bike engine, which claims to deliver 16bhp at the flywheel. Had to deliver/collect some stuff so I put the recently roadworthy Honda in the back of the car. The weekend was a blaze of raucous cornering and culminated in a 40-50 strong convoy of Honda c90's that turned out for the Matlock bimble, a dedicated Honda cub run.
I must admit I was dubious about the Matlock bimble beforehand but it turned out to be one of the most amazing motorbike rides and I'm thouroughly glad I went! It was also the first chance I had to give the yx140 engine a good old try out, and it didn't disappoint! The poor bike was coming apart at the seams with the force! I recommend everybody get's a Honda cub, You will know the score once You try one, like bike crack.
1st pics are from Saturday's scenic ride, Baybutt, Myself and Malco explore the hills. (obviously Baybutt took the photos)

I have one.

Try telling any fe-male on the planet that this is good, You will definately fail. I rode this around country lanes all day, such fun swooping around bends, seeing how far You can go without letting off the accelerator. Ducking down on straights to see what top speed You can get, then hear it ticking over hapily at the next junction as if nothing ever happened. After all that I wanted to ride into the house and around the kitchen cooking dinner, then ride into the living room to watch telly etc. Anyway, good bit of fun transport for when the larger bike is out of action, and super cheap to run/tax. I left it in as found condition for now, got plans for this grid.
The cub was on that tv show where it was no1 greatest ever motorcycle, heres the link

Cubs rule

The do actually. I went on Chalopy, then on Peaks. C series Honda's have a bit of a cult following type thing. Something appeals about the small 4 stroke power clump in that funky lightweight structure. I cannot tell WTF is going on here because it's all in an Asian type/language, but Yea there's some cub modifying goin down here. Yea custom Honda cub c50 c70 c90 cub bobber chopper rat honda c90 etc...
